Well, I'm a little surprised that this made the must-see list, but I'm sure not complaining. My thanks to whichever mod granted me this honor.

I guess it's no surprise that the anthro-verse concept is a bit of a hurdle for some readers (which gives me a clue as to how I should handle another aspect of it in the bigger project from which this stems). To tell the truth, I find myself thinking - albeit half-jokingly - that perhaps I should have listed it as "slightly controversial" more over that than the doctor's suggestion.

I'm glad you like the storyline and writing. I look forward to your feedback on the Toby series; I'll have to make a point to put in more work on the rebooted version (much in the same vein of logic as your plans to reboot "Nome Meets Snob Hill"). Well I'm kinda with Hyde on this one. Though the anthro inference in the story, and that it is set "in the eighties", confused me. Anthro stories really aren't my thing. I'm a purist. Anthropomorphized animals are one thing...I mean, we couldn't have most of the Disney, MGM, Warner Brothers and Universal (etc.) movies and television series without them, right? It's just that I can't get past making them into humans in animal suits.

That being said, the writing style is easy to follow and well-structured, and you certainly have created a dramatic story. I guess I really need to get around to sitting down and reading your Toby storyline, which I never honestly have done. I have a bit more time now, and I really will try.

Thanks Hyde. Admittedly I was kind of worried that this would come across poorly since it wasn't as polished or developed as what I usually like to post.

A brief explanation, since I must have clipped it out by mistake when I trimmed the intro: this story is kind of a companion/outtake tied in to a longer project I have in the works called "Crossing the Tracks." The "experiment" I referred to is making a collection of such short stories, to be released in no particular order, looking at different samplings of the characters' lives and generally dealing with different aspects of love - in this case, the trust and confidence vital to Balto and Jenna's relationship, as well as the protectiveness towards their child. It's kind of like perusing through a collection of home movies.

Wow, in just 2 pages it felt like something that totally caught my interest. For the most part, I can get past them being anthro, but the overall drama that's put into the story, Jenna's nervousness for a newborn, and their relationship makes this somewhat touching and endearing. True, it is a tad short, but that's quite alright. The detail that's put in kind of gives it an edge, as a reader would follow along just to see where this whole thing would lead. I enjoyed it for the most part, and I hope to see more. Good job!
