Relation to Spirit: Her adoptive father was Esperanza's mate for a while, her adoptive siblings Jenna and Shadow are the offspring of Esperanza and Emery.

History

Foal:  Lace was born on a large ranch in Colorado. Her father was a normal American Quater horse used for cutting and her mother was a wild Quater horse cross that had recently been caught. Lace lived under her mother's protection for quite a while, although they never had a very close bond. As time passed Lace's mother became more and more desperate for freedom. So she took a chance one day when the ranchhands came to round them up. She ran for the barbed wire fence and attempted to jump over it, although she took off too late and went through it. She went down thrashing, leaving little Lace to watch. The ranchhands tried to help her, but she was lash out at them in anger and terror. She had to be shot so that she would be put out of her misery. Lace was weaned by now, but now she had nobody. She never let the humans touch her however, she would run to the end of the pasture each time. She would spend two years in the pasture without any human interferance. The humans didnt even feed her any more.

Filly:  The pasture was large so there was always some grass left and a small pond for the growing filly to drink from. But she didn't want to see those ugly barbed wire fences. She wanted to see open range. So she decided to take the same risk her mother had. She tried to jump, and suceeded, gaining her freedom. Lace had joined a bachelor band after her escape, but she couldn't help but feel like she didnt belong there. She wanted someone to love, a stallion to call her own. The colts and stallions in the bachelor band were'nt interested in love. They were interested in playing and relaxing. She wanted a family. One day she split away from the band while they were taking an afternoon romp, catching the scent of a stranger. She was curious as to who this horse was. It was a palomino stallion. She was surprised to see him but she went to go talk to him anyways. It turns out that his name was Hotspur and he too had been tame once. She had thought that her humans were bad, but his were much, much worse. She soon developed a unique friendship and she hopes that he might oneday ask her to join his herd, or more but the stallion broke her heart and she went off to wander.

Lace was now desperately looking for somewhere she belonged she wandered into the rockys one winter during a horrible blizzard. she was blinded by the raging snow she could hear the howls and snarls of wolves. paniced and ran wildly though the snow not knowing where she was going. She ran for miles, until she came upon a dense icey forest. she ran right into something and fell to the ground. she could see green eyes looking down at her, he tore his eyes away from her and looked to the wolves. a scowl came to his face as he charged at them. Lace watched the stallion take down the wolves with horrified eyes. when the wolves ran off. the stallion stood infront of her. he help her to her feet. and told her not to be afraid that she was now safe. Lace begain to tear up and she nuzzled her face in the sallions chest and sobbed like a little lost foal. as if by nature he comforted her like a father would his daughter. Lacey learned his name was Emery and that these lands belonged to his  herd. He brought Lace back to the main section of the Herds lands and intoduced her as his adoptive daughter. Lace was shocked but greatfull all the same...
