History:

Ridge has lived in the calvary all his life. Ridge had never known his father, for he had died only weeks before his birth. This fact made it so that Ridge and Prancer were closer than most mothers and sons.

Apparantly they weren't too awful close in Prancer's mind. She ran off with a buckskin stallion right before Ridge's birthday, and the anniversary of his father's death.

Ridge never knew her reasonings and he would never see her again. It took Ridge a long time to mature. He wasn't as matured as most colts when he was two. He could have been a yearling maturity wise. So when Prancer left it really shaped the personality Ridge has today.
